Ciji and I landed at JFK yesterday and it was sunny out. It was hailing something fierce 20 minutes later, and then this happened. December in New York.
Nature
Define: Hiking
My sister just asked if I ever go hiking in San Francisco.
If you walk anywhere in San Francisco it’s pretty much a hike, right? From my apartment to the grocery store I descend and ascend a hill with a 10-18% grade.
Of course I hike!
HONEY
My parents are bee people. They have two honeybee hives, with a combined population of 100,000 bees.
They sent photos of their first batch of honey from the hives. This is ONE hives worth of honey!
The bees eat wildflowers, including clover, old apple trees and lots of goldenrod. Here’s their first batch bottled up in 4 oz and 8 oz Ball jars. I’m looking forward to putting some of this in my morning hot water and lemon.

Solar Eclipse Timelapse with Bear In Heaven
I leaned a Fipcam against my windowsill during a portion of the solar eclipse today. The clouds are trippy, the sun doesn’t change much, but you can get a tiny sense of the eclipse from the crescent shaped shadow that forms in the middle of the frame. You can see it quite well when the tree moves in and out of the center.

Seasons Change
The closing scene from a play called “Winter, the Season that Never Was.” Believe it or not, without fear of avalanche, people were skiing on the day this photo was taken.
